Signal Chain

"Ship calmly, cut ruthlessly, talk to customers weekly."

How it plays

Four phases. 8 min.

Signal Chain is the digital telephone game with teeth. A starting phrase goes to the first player, who draws it; the next player describes the drawing in words; the next draws that — and so on down the line. The reveal steps through every link, then puts the original and the final message side by side. Hilarity (and accidental insight) ensue.

Phase 01

Seed

assign

A starting phrase goes to the first player.

Phase 02

Draw

60s

Draw what you were told.

Phase 03

Describe

45s

Describe the drawing you received.

Phase 04

Reveal

compare

The whole chain, start to finish — first vs last.

Why teams use it

It works because it’s structured.

01

Mimics real comms decay

Watch the strategy memo lose its spine over five rewrites — like real life.

02

Teaches sharp writing

Players learn to compress without losing meaning.

03

Ridiculously rewatchable

No two rounds end the same way.

Sample prompts

What you might play with.

01 "Ship calmly, cut ruthlessly, talk to customers weekly."
02 "We’re moving the launch to next Tuesday."
03 "Remote-first, not remote-only."

Best for.
